Meet the candidates: John McCain and Barack Obama - a numerological view

The media is all over the candidates. We see their faces and hear their words and everyone has an opinion of who they really are and what they really mean when they say what they say.  Numerology can read the men in yet another dimension.

I will attempt, in this reading to talk about the presidential candidates and their numerology charts in an objective non-partisan approach.  This is just a brief synopsis and does not talk about all the aspects of the two men that shows up numerologically. It is apparent in their charts that both Obama and McCain were “destined” to make an impact in the world.

This numerology reading will look at the birth name (full name at birth) of each man to illustrate how the men look at the world, what their value systems are and how they express themselves.  In addition, by looking at the name they are usually called, we will examine their alter egos, another aspect of the personality. This alter ego explains many aspects of the personality -- as  some names have vibrations that are complimentary to one’s goals and aspirations and sometimes very different and conflicting.

Barack Obama, born August 4, 1961.  His birth name, Barack Hussein Obama, (see chart below) shows a nine in his soul number, a one in his value systems and also in his expression number.  This shows a man who has a strong sense of psychology, understanding where people are coming from, someone who can lead with hope and people feel they are understood. The one makes him a strong leader, sure of himself and one who is not afraid of making a stand.  He can be a bit heady in his approach as all the numbers are of the mind. His first impression is one of assurance and independence but not warm and fuzzy.

Barack's alter ego, Barack Obama has (see chart below) a one in soul number, 22 in value system and five in expression.  These numbers are complimentary to his personality compared to his birth name numbers.  The one gives him a strong ego and leadership qualities, the 22 in his values is a master number, the visionary who seeks to change the world; the arbitrator, one who can work with people to make a concrete change.  His expression number is a five. So he expresses himself with charisma and can be out there in public in a gregarious and enthusiastic way. He enjoys contact with people and is entertaining.  The conflict may lie in the human touch.  Although his alter ego chart shows an outgoing, gregarious people person and orator to the world, and he has a master number of connection with others, these are all outgoing numbers and not internal or heart numbers, so one might be left with feeling that they do not really know him. Thus, the description of “cool” is often used.

John McCain
, born August 29, 1936.  His full birth name, John Sidney McCain shows a one in his soul number, a three in his value systems and a four in his expression number.  This is a man who is strong in his convictions and a leader, his value systems are creative and unique. He is attracted to connection and expression of his thoughts and the thoughts of others.  He expresses himself in a very organized and structured way.  He is dependable and steadfast and can be a bit stubborn and aggressive, feeling that his way is the only way.

McCain’s alter ego (John McCain) has a vibration that is not complimentary to his birth name, the vibration is contradictory.  As grounded and conservative as the birth name is, is as ‘other dimensional’ as the name he is called (see Alter Ego below).  In this name, he has a seven in his soul number (spiritual and inward thinking). This adds conflict to someone who is so strong and grounded. People with such conflict need to learn the fine balance of the spirit and if they do not, they become withdrawn and often moody and mysterious, having a hard time connecting with others. We saw this in the first debate, how he could not look at his opponent.  His value system is an 11, like Obama, also a master number in this category. This gives him the values of leadership and creative ideas that can make an impact on the world. His expression is a nine which gives him an understanding of where people are coming from.  The conflict and frustration lies in that he can be misunderstood, (even to himself) that part of him is grounded and what you see is what you get and the other part is mysterious and you do not really know if you can trust what you are seeing.

Destiny and Personal Year

Also, very interesting is the similarity in the destiny number and personal year of both candidates. Both have a destiny number (the birth date added up) of an 11. The destiny, or life purpose, is what the person is brought on earth to do, what his lesson on this life plane is.  Both have the destiny of a master number.  In mastery, the 11 is a creative leader, one whose ideas and leadership can make a profound impact on the world. Such leaders as Martin Luther King and Einstein had 11’s.  So both of the candidates have potential. What they do with it is yet to be known.

The other interesting similarity is that both Obama and McCain are in “master” personal years.  To calculate the personal year, you add the month and day of your birth plus the current year.

John McCain

August 29, 1936

8/29/1936

8+2+9+1+9+3+6 =38/11 Destiny is 11

8+2+9+2+0+0+8 = 29/11 Personal year is 11

So McCain’s destiny is an 11 and he is in a personal year of 11. This is profound to me.  He was destined to go this far, at least, to make an impact on the world with his ideas and his leadership.

Barack Obama

August 4, 1961

8+4+1+9+6+1 = 29/11 Destiny is 11

8+4+2+0+0+8 = 22/4   Personal year is 22

Also profound is that Obama is destined to lead with his ideas and leadership.  He is in a personal year of the master 22 which is the master arbitrator and whose connection with people can have an impact on systems and the environment.

The lessons and conflict of the master numbers are fantasy, procrastination, feelings of grandeur and needing to be grounded and sincere with their convictions. That they lead with their hearts and serve others as compared to their ego and need for power is the challenge of the master numbers, and we hope, whomever becomes president will heed these words to shift the country during these stressful times and not abuse it for their own personal goals.

You have a very interesting take on the character of the two candidates.

Does McCain’s numbers give us any insight into his capacity for rage?

Yes Maury, you can understand McCain’s anger by looking at the effects of the conflicting sides of the vibrations in his birth name (that is his full name - John Sidney McCain compared to his alter ego name - (name usually called - John McCain).  He is pulled at both ends of his psyche – one is open and macho, the other is closed and sensitive. In his birth name chart, you see a strong, assertive, stubborn man, who is a leader and not afraid to be out there in the world.  He can be charismatic, powerful and loves to be the center of attention.  You could observe this in the second debate, as he tried to hog the camera.  His alter ego, however, is mysterious, sensitive and inner thinking, one that does not find it easy to connect with people, especially when he feels vulnerable  -- as we observed in the first debate, he was not able to keep direct eye contact with Obama.

Thus, as the campaign moves on and the tension grows, and the media brings everything up to the surface, McCain’s uneasiness increases.  His face gets redder and the steam comes out of his ears.  He tries to use humor to push down the discomfort, but this often comes out cutting and sarcastic.  He is competitive, yet a sore loser because he cannot accept that he can be wrong or that anyone else can win.  He needs to hold on to his macho side so he can feel powerful while the sensitive side is in hiding.  Without the proper balance of deep breathing, embracing more of a connection to his spirit and his inner self, he is a loose cannon and can lose his temper easily.
